Honors and Awards:
2007: The JianHaoRan Environmental Microbial Best Paper Award (1stname)
Research Specialty:
Environmental Microbiology
Courses to Teach:
Microbiology Engineering, Principles & Technique of Microbial Fermentation
Research Interest:
My research interest is the synthesis of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) byHalophilicbacteria or engineeredEscherichia coli. Some engineered bacteria can synthesize these materials up to 92% of the dry weight of the cells.
In addition, I am also interested in constructing high efficient strains to convert waste renewable lignocellulose materials to organic fertilizer. We have domesticated several bacterial communities that can convert cornstraw, rice straw and soybean straw under low temperature. My objective is to use these strains to produce soil fertilizer in theNortheast Regionof China.
